Specialized neurons for Language

"Language is a vast field, and we are beginners in it. We know a lot

about how different parts of the brain are involved in language tasks, but the details are not very clear to us," says Mohsen Jamali.

.....They then determined if certain neurons reacted differently to different word groups. It turned out they did. "In the end, we had nine groups. We looked at which words were in those groups and labeled them," says Jamali. 

---It turned out that each group corresponded to a specific semantic domain.

Specialized neurons reacted to words related 

--to animals, 

while other groups reacted to words related 

--to emotions, 

--activities, 

--names, 

--weather, 

and so on. "Most of the neurons we recorded had one preferred domain. Some had more, like two or three," Jamali explained."
